PunkassPie I can see what you're saying. Right now Maya is drinking from a sippy but we only put water in the sippy and if she seems thirsty and I'm there I just nurse her. I could see myself doing something similar if I didn't work. Not on purpose or anything just more for convenience.

terra That sounds so freaking cute.

I'm just not a fan of cows' milk. I like it in things, and give it to the kids as an ingredient- ice cream, yogurt, cheese, earlier, but I figure as long as they are nursing, they don't really need it as a beverage. Even now, at 6 and 8, they only have milk a couple time a week, except when they are in school, and will have the little half-pints of chocolate milk with lunch.

I also figure it maybe will help them to calm down and sleep when with an alternate care provider?

But I am weird. I have only left fat baby once, for like 30 minutes to run and get frosties, and he slept the whole time. I plan to leave him soon for like a trial hour with my mother-in-law, and then have to leave him in early September for like 2 hours for travel time and a dental filling. After that, I will probably work up to an hour or two or even three about once a week. At least until my sister-in-law has her baby, and then my childcare availability will be limited because my sister-in-law does not share my weirdness.

PunkassPie I still have like 20 bottles of milk in the freezer right now so I'm good on milk for a while. I told DH that I will pump once a day for like a month and he can use that and the freezer milk and once that is gone we're done .

I don't think Maya and E are the same when it comes to nursing though. When I get home from work she could have had a bottle like 2 hours before but it doesn't matter. She comes crawling over all fast to me and talking/yelling in her cute baby way "AaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhHHHHH" and tries to climb up my leg . I have to pick her up and if I even move like I'm going to put her down she gets pissed. I have to go into my room and nurse her or she will totally cry .

But usually I have to go pee so I'll run into my room to the bathroom and she just follows me all mad "AaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhHHHHH"

Megs Ahh yeah I can see that. Any particular reason you hold off until two? Just curious.

E is an out of sight out of mind girl. If I don't make it home before she wakes up from her nap, she cares not. She can easily be tided over with a sippy cup of water and a snack and sometimes, when I do get home, she's not interested at all in nursing. I have a feeling she's going to be weaning here shortly and it makes me very sad.

terra I don't do milk until they are about 2, so if I will be gone for several hours, I like to leave some for a sippy or a bottle if nothing else is working.

Megs Terra, you stash after 12 months?

My answer to that is HELL TO THE NO. But you rock on with your bad self.

Lyerin I hate, hate, hate pumping, but I can totally see how it is bittersweet. I will really miss nursing when we're done. I have about 6 more months of pumping before I'm ready to be done with it at work.

terra (Wean from the pump entirely, I mean.)

terra Before you wean entirely, stash some for nights out!

Nodakbabe Hey, I haven't pumped at work in 6 months, and while DS is only nursing once or twice a day, he still loves his boobie when he gets it. When he wants to nurse during the day(not often) he's even started pulling up on my shirt to get to it.

I don't miss the pump at all though.

Starting the pump weaning

I don't love pumping, I don't hate it either, but I would rather not pump longer than I need to. So I'm starting to wean myself from the pump (and OMG, I am only pumping once today and when I did it I pumped over two bottles ).

It makes me a little sad though. That means I'll probably start producing less and then maybe the baby will want to nurse less and then she's going to wean and not want to BF anymore. Or maybe not, she does love the boobie . I am going to miss BFing whenever we stop though.

bittersweet, even though it's only the pump
