I was in the grocery store yesterday and one teenage cashier was telling another teenage cashier how she would do Easter when she has kids. She's gonna buy a shit-ton of candy at the Bulk Barn. I kinda made a joke that she'd just be punishing herself because they'd be so wound up on sugar. She assured us it wouldn't be a problem because after they'd eaten all the candy she'd let them play a bit and then they'd nap. Oddly enough mine aren't napping. They have stripped off their clothes and are running around naked in the backyard. |

We left two Kinder eggs in their playroom with a written clue as to where the next "treat" was. They found it (two Zube Tubes) and another clue to the next spot, etc etc. That's how my Mom and Gram did Easter for me so that's what I do for mine. No big central basket. They were still done before 7am because they're crazy. |

After seeing some basket pics, we really are slackers around here. They get one chocolate bunny, and a little bit of candy plus a small toy, book, etc. That gets harder as they get older. I really am so done with the "Easter Bunny". I made the comment to 15yo dd if she thought she was too old for the Easter Bunny and she said yes but that her 13 yo sister was not. Then she says that she really wants a chocolate bunny with this sad look on her face.

Some of these stories We always hide the baskets, this year one was behind the couch and the other was in the tub. We need to make it harder next year. |

I hid one chocolate bunny in the dryer and it was the first one found.  Two others were in cupboards in the bathroom. They were found next. The one in the basement window, behind the curtain was found last and only found after I gave hints. My kids are crap at looking.The funniest was watching my 10yo look for eggs. There was one egg in each of the clear plastic drawers we use for mitts, scarves, and hats. She found an egg in one, and then opened and closed all the others without seeing the eggs in each one. Yes, she needs glasses, but she was wearing them, and she has better eye sight than the rest of us! This kid is always like this. She looks without seeing and hears without listening. She'll ask a question, you'll answer her, and 5 minutes later she'll just ask the same damn question.

Baskets go on the kitchen table with some chocolate already in them (plus a small Lego set for the youngest). Foil covered chocolate eggs are hidden in the kitchen, hallway, bedrooms and bathroom (the dogs are gated in the living room so no eggs in there). The 15 year old announced last night that he was not joining the hunt this year...guess who was in the kitchen at 7am with his basket in hand.

I think for ds, I am gonna put the bowl for my mixer in the dishwasher and put his basket under the mixer and put the cover back over it. I hope it fits there. I still need a spot for dd.

We always hide them, and this year they will be hidden by dh for the first time so it'll be interesting to see what he does. He took dd2 to a concert tonight and I can't reach where he stored the baskets, so now he gets to assemble and hide them alone bc I'm 15 mins into a lunesta and will be sawing logs shortly. | "Kate" is available | I wish I did hide Easter baskets, so I could tell the kids to look for their baskets, then go back to bed. (I didn't do any Easter baskets this year.) |
