LilaLevering I can totally relate with you, even I had the same problem with my son when he was younger until he started his daycare, after which he gradually started following a routine the best thing you can do at this moment is to be patient and help your child establish a proper routine, fix timings for his breakfast, lunch and dinner and night sleep and make sure he follows it, it will take little time for him to adjust to the routine but I am sure after few days he will be fine with it.

Solution found!

Been using the app for another couple of days.
It is amazing!

First of all, it makes the morning into a game. And that is a huge improvement for us. I am a bit surprised that such a simple game works so well on my kid...

Second, it gives me an opportunity to be with my kid in the morning, praising and complimenting tasks well done, rather than confronting and scolding.

There is also an option for two players - I want to play together with my kid.
It's only $2, but anyone know of a free game such as this for two players?

But I have found a nice app that helped us out this morning. It is called I'm Ready.

Here is a screen shot from the app page (for some reason I can't upload a screen capture):

My kid really enjoyed playing with it and it helped us remove the nagging and arguing this morning. Hope my kid doesn't get bored with it, and it helps tomorrow as well!

Good luck.

Twinklestars Can the child tell time? Set up a schedule.
Get up @ X:00
Breakfast @ X:05
Brush teeth @ X:15
Get dressed @ X:20
Brush/comb hair @ X:25
Leave @ X:30

Make sure everything is ready the night before. Clothes laid out including underthings and shoes. Backpack zipped and ready to go. Lunch packed and in the fridge.

couldbeworsecouldbebetter My kid gets enough sleep. And currently no screens in the morning.

My problem is getting my kid into the "groove" of doing. It is not laziness, but lack of focus.

I have now downloaded an app that may help me. Maybe screens will help?
I'll try it tomorrow and will l will let you know.

PunkassPie Is your kid getting enough sleep? Are they on devices/video games/tv in the morning?

Anybody out there?

I tried using a table on the fridge - marking smileys each time my kid does something.

I am not happy with this method. Puts me in the position of "the police"...

Any ideas?

Morning routines

I joined this forum because I need some help:

My kid just entered first grade and things have not gone well for the whole family as a result.
My kid is late for school often, and I have become a nag...

I realize that mornings are often stressful, but they should also be a positive experience - they are the start of our day after all. How can my kid have a great day if the mornings are such a negative experience???

Any suggestions?
