Pudin No, we will beat Isis by killing Isis. That is the only way.

Mendy I do see where you are coming from Pudin. But I think the best thing we can do is bring in as many as possible and afford these women the same rights we enjoy. Let the girls grow up and marry and live as they like and teach their boys to respect women. That's how we we beat ISIS.

Pudin Yes, us 'Merican women will be lining up in droves to fight for our rights to become Islamic women!

Quote:
The age of marriage in Islam for women varies with country. Traditionally, Islam has permitted marriage of girls below the age of 10, because Sharia considers practices of Muhammad as a basis for Islamic law. According to Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, the two Sunni hadiths, Muhammed married Aisha, his third wife when she was 6, and consummated the marriage before she reached the age of 10 (this version of events is rejected by Shia Muslims).[220][221]

Narrated 'Aisha: that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e., till his passing away).

— Sahih al-Bukhari, 7:62:64
There is a debate among Islamic scholars what the above sunnah means. Some scholars suggest that it is not the calendar age that matters, rather it is the biological age of the girl that determines when she can be married under Islamic law. According to these Islamic scholars, marriageable age in Islam is when a girl has reached sexual maturity, as determined by her nearest male guardian; this age can be, claim these Islamic scholars, less than 10 years, or 12, or another age depending on each girl. There is a strong belief among most Muslims and scholars, based on Sharia, that marrying a girl less than 15, or 12 years old is an acceptable practice for Muslims.[222][223] Muslim communities in Yemen,[224][225] Saudi Arabia,[226] India,[227][228] Bangladesh, Pakistan,[229] Indonesia,[230] Egypt,[231] Nigeria[232] and elsewhere have insisted that it is their Islamic right to marry girls below age 15.[233]

Pudin If this isn't brainwashed, I have no idea what is.

*The American Muslim woman is not oppressed and our cover (hijaab) is our right, not a punishment. We consider the Western way of life a step backward not forward. The Middle Eastern woman may see the so-called glamour of American Western lifestyle because their country practices culture and not Islam. If Islam was really practiced in the countries of my Eastern sisters, Western (females) would be fighting for Islamic rights.

Quote:
As a Muslim woman I would like to say that Islam has liberated me in many ways. Most Americans see Muslim women as an oppressed lot, but I would like them to know that if Muslim women are oppressed, it’s because they forsake the true Islam and follow their country’s cultural practices. Islam throws away all the garbage that keeps women down and lifts them up to a status of self-respect and confidence. Most American women feel that they are the most liberated women on earth, but they are not really relieved from the bonds of oppression. Anyone who has to have a perfect body for fear of rejection, anyone who has to reveal their bodies to receive so called “attention,” anyone who gets paid less for equal work versus a male counterpart, anyone in those categories is still oppressed, and the only solution is to throw the chains of bondage away and accept God and Islam in their life.
Yes, let's all convert, ladies!

Currently, it is common for a Muslim woman who makes a claim of rape not only to be denied justice but to be charged with fornication or adultery.[141][142][143][144]

Several Islamic countries, such as Morocco (Penal Code Article 475), allow rapists to avoid criminal prosecution if they marry their victim. In 2012, a 16-year-old Moroccan girl, having been forced by her family and the government prosecutor to marry her rapist – and, subsequently, having endured the rapist's abuse – committed suicide by swallowing rat poison.

In practice, the legal doctrine of many Islamic nations, in deference to Sharia law, have refused to include, consider or prosecute cases of domestic violence, limiting legal protections available to Muslim women.[166][167][168][169] In 2010, for example, the highest court of United Arab Emirates (Federal Supreme Court) considered a lower court's ruling, and upheld a husband's right to "chastise" his wife and children with physical violence. Article 53 of the United Arab Emirates' penal code acknowledges the right of a "chastisement by a husband to his wife and the chastisement of minor children" so long as the assault does not exceed the limits prescribed by Sharia.[170] In Lebanon, as many as three-quarters of all Lebanese women have suffered physical abuse at the hands of husbands or male relatives at some point in their lives.[171][172] In Afghanistan, over 85% of women report domestic violence;[173] other nations with very high rates of domestic violence and limited legal rights include Syria, Pakistan, Egypt, Morocco, Iran, Yemen and Saudi Arabia.[174] In some Islamic countries such as Turkey, where legal protections against domestic violence have been enacted, serial domestic violence by husband and other male members of her family is mostly ignored by witnesses and accepted by women without her getting legal help, according to a Government of Turkey report.[175]
Sounds like a fucking blast!

Pudin The progress our country has made as far as sexism goes is huge. We still have a long way to go. Women don't even have equal pay here yet. The majority of women on this board freak the hell out if I say I am not a feminist but a humanist yet you guys have absolutely no problem defending an entire culture that the majority feel w omen are way, way, way, way, below men in every way possible.

Nothing is more annoying to me than watching a Muslim man out with his family walking 20 steps ahead of his wife. He is dressed in full American clothing, jeans etc and she is head to toe in black with nothing but her face and hands showing. I guess she should be happy he lets her show her face?

This board makes fun of the Duggars yet they are more enlightened than the majority of Muslims.

Anastasia Years back my DH used to do sales for a large beverage company. He would visit lots of convenience stores in Brooklyn to do his sales. Many of the owners and managers were Muslim. He is very friendly/outgoing and some of them felt fairly comfortable with him after a while. You should have heard some of the shit they told him about Jews. Or guns. Or Americans. It wasn't just one or two of them, either.

You guys are naive. You really are. And you watch too much CNN.

Like Squig said, I always try to err on the side of kindness. I've always been kind of a bleeding heart when it comes to illegal immigration, actually. But when we're talking about people who might be out to destroy my country (or two places that I consider my country) or kill millions of people, my kindness ends there. Many of them are good. Problem is, when we let in 200,000, we aren't going to know who is who.

Pudin You can feel good about helping them, which is obviously the only point in taking the handful of refugees that our president has vowed. Screw the piles of others. If we take 10,000 we can say we did all we could meanwhile letting Isis take over the land that isn't theirs. Makes perfect sense.

Now you can have your token Muslim friend.

betholio Hey Pudin. There is an actual Syrian refugee family moving to my small town (pop 2500). A rapist dad, oppressed mom and 3 little future rapists/oppressed women 4 and under. We already have raised about $15,000 towards helping them get settled and have a house set up for their home for at least the first year. I'm grateful my hick town is not filled with ignorant xenophobes such as yourself.

SquigSoup Strangely enough, I just listened to an actual Muslim woman speak on this very issue! And you know, she said that she wore the modest clothes because it's between her and God!

Look, I'm not fan of ANY organized religion. I just wish people would acknowledge that Muslims don't have a corner on terrorism, and that claiming that Syrian refugees might be terrorists is just racist.

Pudin Well by all means, ladies, join up. You too can become some man's property.

Diz Ok. These women cover their hair. Hmmmmmmm that would save a lot of time and energy. Maybe they are onto something.

Pudin And I feel horrible for the Amish women. If you think I am kidding, look into it.
11-18-2015 03:15 PM
Pudin So do I, actually.

They are not Muslims and haven't been for decades.

Pudin Yes and Elizabeth Smart chose to not run from her captures and rapists after a while. If you are raised in that bullshit you believe it.If you are brainwashed you believe it. If this were a US cult you would be furious but for some reason liberals feel the need to defend Islam. It is strange and fucking hilarious at the same time.
