Its only me Alasaka is nice, in the summer. HAHA. We have been here about a year. We plan to stay here when he gets out. Which he says will be in 2 years now. Was thinking of retiring, but changed his mind quickly. LOL We bought a house here, and love it. Sure if you have to drive to Anchorage the drive is a long one. And traffic is horrid. But living in the boonies has a plus too. I love the dog sledders going by the house, the Northern Lights, the moose. The cold weather doesn't bother me too bad, unless it is under -35. Then I freeze. My parents own a 12 plex in Anchorage, so DH gets to stay with them if he is too tired to come home, or has longer hours or duty.

Dawn Keebals It depends on your idea of nice.

When I think nice, I think of sandy beaches, blue skies and warm breezes. Here, you have mountains, lots of wildlife, tons of snow for winter activites, ect. It's not my idea of a good time, but I've gotten used to it

Dawn Keebals Starsha,

We are at EAFB, but we're trying to buy a house in Wasilla. We actually looked at a house in Big Lake, but decided it was just a little too far of a drive back to the base.

How long have you been in Alaska?

Dawn Keebals Mine was a slip I'm still new at this so I think I have points on the brain!

ticky KW, you could have made some cash off of them.

Kiowa You don't need points to get in. Just posts and not be psycho.
05-22-2004 10:30 AM
Cerise Yes, me too. I'm trying to get enough posts and now points to get in.

Dawn Keebals I'm prior service USAF and he's still active duty USAF. We're stationed at Elmendorf (in Anchorage) right now and we will be here for the remainder of his enlistment. I was a cop and he is SATCOM-wideband.

When he gets out (Jan 06) he'll have 10 years in. We had talked about him doing Palace Chase, but that idea has to wait until we find out if we are buying a house here in Alaska or not. We're still waiting to hear back from the seller, there were a few things the house inspector found that need to be fixed. Hopefully he will agree to fix everything and we'll be homeowners!

Anyway, that's about it. He's been deployed so much, it's not even funny. I just am thankful for every day that we are in the same time zone.

Kiowa What branch are you or you SO in?
05-22-2004 08:57 AM
Dawn Keebals I'm not trying to whore for points! I was just trying to drum up some conversation, that's all. I do have a mentor, Muse.

Besides, I figured I couldn't be the only person that is military that wanted to talk shop and didn't have the right amount of points to get in.

ticky Errr...Horing for posts will likely get you more than just access to the PF's. *wink wink...nudge, nudge*

Are you one of the new inductees? Do you have a mentor?

Are you still trying to get your post count up?

I have the two months, but not the 400 posts. Anyone else? I figured we could chat amongst ourselves until we hit that magic number
