packing lunches

No i dont pack my daughters lunch as she gets free lunch at school
so does my son Jason but he has CELIACS disease ( allergy to wheat gluten rye oats and barley).. so.. i pack a few things he can eat. and he also gets some stuff inthe lunch line lile Yogurt and milk and such,

otherwise I would pack my daughters lunch to ensure she is taking something approved or appropriate instead of chocolate pudding and oreos LOL...

I dont mind packing her lunch when she asks either, :o)

Movie Chick Oh yeah, he's 8 1/2 and in 3rd grade.

Movie Chick I usually prepurchase about 10 lunches at the beginning of each month. My son always buys school lunch on Monday (pizza) and when he and I are running late and I don't have time to pack his lunch. Other than that, he packs. We have a discussion each Saturday before going to the store about what he wants to eat each day. Can I just say, frozed Go-Gurt is a wonderful thing....

Q21 No.

We receive reduced lunches so for .40 a day my daughter can get a warm lunch. I'm surprised at the variety they offer actually.

Muse I pack dd's lunch (she is 10), but she stands behind me dictating what she wants in there.

MoreCowbell I usually pack ds's lunch (he's in 2nd grade) dh does sometimes. He started bringing his lunch b/c he never ate the school food (that we had to pay for) and it is crap anyways...nothing but processed fat and sugar. He's better w/a sandwich and yougurt anyways.

Mrs. Chickenhead We always make dsd's lunch for her. As soon as she stars complaining about what we serve her she'll make her own, but I don't mind doing it otherwise.

Twinklestars I pack dd's lunch or sometimes her dad does. I wish that she would eat the school lunch, but no such luck.

Tattoo Either me or my husband pack lunches for the kids (5, 13, and 14). Sometimes we let the kids pick out their own snacks if they are around. If not, they get what we give them.

Spastic Cat Nope, not in elementary school. They buy now anyway (8th and 11th grades)

califred I should add that I have a snack basket with lunch type items that he can readily get to along with yogurt in the fridge.

WhiteTrashBarbie No. Most of the time she is buying school lunch now, maybe once a day we pack a lunch. But we still have to pack snacks/drinks each day.

I wouldn't expect her to pack her own lunch for some time, probably not until 3rd grade, unless she asks to do it sooner. I don't leave the items she takes with her (i.e., fruit snacks, cereal bars, etc.) easily available because I don't want her eating them randomly and spoiling her appetite.

califred Not yet.. I know I was required to pack mine by the second grade though.

My son will probably start packing his next year also (he'll be in the second grade then)

School lunches

Do your kids pack their own school lunch?

I was sitting with a group of mothers the other day and was surprised to hear that a lot of kids pack their own.

Mine don't.
