TasteTheRainbow I could never do childcare...my 2 kids are enough to drive me bonkers. I really admire those that have the patience for it.

I have 2 friends who have recently gotten into photography. One spent about $1,000 to start up (she had to get new camera & lenses, backdrops, etc.) The other one just made up a few fliers and business cards, dropped them off at different places like the schools and daycare, and it really took off. Word of mouth helped her out a lot too, from family and friends who had seen her pics. She also made up a "portfolio" which just consisted of a photo album with some of her better pics in it. Her only startup costs were the fliers, cards, and film.

I'd love to do that but all of my pics suck. I don't know if it's me, the camera, or a combination of both.

Chatter Screw Mary Kay. I've decided to sell Arbonne. I love their products!

I've also been selling my homemade bath salts. I sold 5 jars this week at $15 a pop!

website with real work at home jobs

I do know of a website that lists work from home jobs it is http://hop.clickbank.net/mommyof2/homejob. The lady that runs the site screens all jobs b/f she posts them. They are all legit work from home jobs, not businesses. If the company charges a start up fee she will not post them. There are several catagories clerical, customer service, medical, business, etc. She does charge a one time fee of $18.00 for unlimited, lifetime access to her lists. (She updates them regularly)But seeing how much money people lose everyday on scams its not bad. It is where I found my job.

HaileyHoo I just started watching a 3 year old boy a few weeks ago. I placed an ad in the paper. I watch him about 15 hours per week and get $60.00.

FireTaco I use some of DH's paycheck, I sell Avon casually, just enough to get a discount and a little extra (about 30-40 bucks every 2 weeks) and I just began selling Petra. I like both of those product lines, so it's not like I'm really selling it to make money, that's just a bonus.

blazegirl I found this great home based business that I started 2 months ago and I love it.
I can sit at home in my pj's if I want to.

After spending several of $100's on others
I actually found one and received my first check from working out of my home, it is great i spend more time with my family.

All I invested was $29 for my business kit. It takes the worries out of were i am going to make money and spend all the time that I want with my family. I spend several years looking for something like this and finally found it.

ErikasMess I am going to watch a 3mos old when his mom goes back to work. She's looking for a good center, but still not sure if she wants to work full time anymore. So I'll watch the baby until she decides to stay home or not..or until we move in July. I'll be making $100/week.

Janessa I do childcare so I can stay home. I have 2 kids of my own and then 2 full time and 2 part time kids that I watch. Some days it really sucks but at least I'm home where I want to be and most of the time 4-6 kids really isn't harder then 2 since they play pretty well together.

For real, I have been trying to think of something, but I think a job is all we can do outside the home.

Phishgal I donate Plasma for cash. I know that sounds so terriable, but I used to donate blood on a daily basis so I figured it is not much different. The plasma that I donate is used in pharmacuticals that help children and adults that have blood clotting issues. It is not a ton of $$ (20-30 for each time I donate), but I feel really good about it.

Kiowa Chatter, you are nuts.

Vermin Rhett - I saw it advertised in our local paper.

I work for a company called ConsumerLink.
http://www.consumerlink.co.nz

Our parent company is Colmar Brunton.

You could always try looking up some local market research companies in your phone book and ask them if they have a hometeam for telephone interviewing. The bulk of the telephone interviewing work done by our company is office based - CATI work (computer assisted telephone interviewing). The home-team just covers certain projects.

backinthesaddle I mean with women doing stationery, crafts, lotions and such you think I would find something.

Chatter I'm going to start watching 2 kids from the neighborhood. With 3 kids, what's 2 more? I'm also going to start selling Mary Kay.

Rhettoric Vermin ~ How did you find something like that? I know you're in NZ but is that company international? Sounds like a great work from home job.

Anyways, just wondering.

Vermin I do a bit of work at home. I hate admitting to it though - it's telephone interviewing for a market research company. I think we're regarded with the same level of affection that most people reserve for cockroaches.

At least it's not selling stuff (I'd make a hopeless salesperson) and I only work when dh is home from work - he minds the girls wihle I work. I am in control of when I work and how long for, so I can fit it in easily around our family life. If the girls need me, I just finish off for the evening and go back to it the next time it suits.

Kiowa Who says I don't have my own cash? Dh works for me.

The only thing I have ever done to make extra money was get a part time job in the evenings or baby sit. I don't suggest baby sitting, you may remember the hassles I had with that.

Rhettoric I'm tired of not having my own cash but I think the only way to do it is to go out and get a job.
Sorry, not what you want to hear. But I'm dealing with the same thing.
