Patsit Is anyone walking in San Diego?

That is my goal. I don't know exactly how I'm going to do it, or if I will be able to. I will have to find a way to pay for the airline ticket etc. I am also trying to plan surgeries around that and the Doctor seems to think I will still be able to do it.

Good luck everyone.

rebel Irish Temper, are you doing it with the same team you were with last year? Or starting a Sybermom Strollers team?

Either way, it'll be good!

Irish Temper I signed up again for AZ. Our walk had about 1,750 walk and raised over $4.7 million. We had our reunion party a week and a half ago. You can do it, it is the most amazing thing ever. I lost 40 pounds last year training for it. I am hoping to drop another 40 or so this year, to finally be at goal.

Alias Doula it is so wonderful - you will not regret one minute of it (well maybe on day 2 you may, but it fades!)

Not sure what the tapes are you are talking about, but really, if you are moving, it is a good thing. Walk as much as you can in training and you will do just fine.

pumpkinsmom I should add that we do the Canadian version of the walk which is whimpier. We only have to raise 2000 smallish Canuk bucks and we walk 60 kms over two days, which is about 40 miles.

pumpkinsmom You can do it! We had people of all shapes and sizes. We even had a woman that I believe was about 80 years old, do it with her walker.

Harlot start slow, walking a mile a day. Right now my schedule looks like this:

Sunday Off
Monday: 3 miles
Tuesday: crosstrain (I do wieghts and Jazzercise)
Wednesday: 3 miles
Thursday: Crosstrain
Friday: 3 miles
Saturday: 5 miles

That is 14 miles a week.

doulapunk Somehow I have to squeeze in 14 miles this week. Do the WATP videos count?
01-31-2006 08:45 AM
Harlot Doula, you are no fatter than I am. If you die at mile 11, we'll get a sweep van for you. Just being there and walking is the most important part.
01-31-2006 08:38 AM
Lyerin You can totally do it. I was very fat for the walk last year, and I made it (okay I had to miss 2 or so miles because of hypothermia, but that really wasn't my fault).

COME TO THE TWIN CITIES!!!!!!

doulapunk I am kind of excited-and scared. Fundraising is not my strong point, but I'm going to worry about that later. I gained too much weight when I stopped exercising-this will get me back in shape without focusing on weight, which always does me in.
20 miles a day? For three days? This is where the scared comes in-what if I just die at mile 11, and everybody just has to walk on my body? Everybody looked so exhausted last year, I thought " I could never do this". So then, I decided I wanted to

reporterbabe You raise the money by asking everyone in the world for it.

I personally like being part of a team -- my first walk was solo -- but even walking alone, it's hard to be lonely in a crowd of 3,000 women, and I made a bunch of friends on a Yahoo list for Boston walkers.

You can do it!

No, not suffering from tiredness still. A number of us signed up for this year's walk on day 1 of last year's walk!

It's great.

doulapunk been to the site-YOU ARE DOING IT AGAIN! I am so glad! I figured I should walk since the ones from last year were probably still tired. I have a friend who wants to walk-she is very motivated and says she knows we can raise the money. We did our first training walk this morning. Nobody has ever actually DIED from fatness on the walk, have they?

Harlot SIGN UP TO WALK WITH ME!

I have already set up the team for Sybermom Strollers Seattle. You can raise the money! If I can do this, you can do this. Right now I'm planning a Baja Fresh fundraising night, My inlaws are going to have a raffle with the proceeds going to my walk. My MIL is giving away massages for donations (she is a massage therapist). Be creative. YOu can do it. Start at www.the3day.org

peers around nervously

last year I went and met the syber strollers in camp and came home and told dh, "I want to walk next year". So this year has come. I walked four miles this am, and called it my first day of training.
What do I do now? What comes next? Do I have to be on a team? Is it better? How will I ever raise the money?
