Movie Chick This is our first year doing this. It took four calls to my attorney earlier this week to make sure the ex knew that he only had them the week before Christmas. I will miss having Christmas Eve with them, but they will be home around 1pm on Christmas day and be with me the rest of the time until they go back to school.

ShellofmyFormerSelf Also wanted to add that last year, my first Christmas without dd, my dad took me on a two-day trip over Christmas. It wasn't anything fancy--we drove up to Atlanta, ate at some nice restaurants and went to several movies--but it helped take my mind off of her being gone.

ShellofmyFormerSelf Luckily I have dd all Christmas this year. We swap off Thanksgiving and Christmas every year. It eliminates the traveling back and forth (he's in NM and I'm in AL so it is a LONG trip!) and it also alleviates the whole "okay I opened these gifts, on to the next stash" mentality.

This year will be our first Christmas in our new house so that'll be really nice too.

Tallulah I have the kids the week before the 25th, on the 25th around 10:30-11am they go to their dad's for a week. So I get them for a little bit of Christmas Day, and I'm thankful for that. It will be hard to see them go on Christmas though This is also my first year without them.

ShellofmyFormerSelf That's a deal! I've got a stack of movies and a pantry full of snacks ready to go! Even the guy I've been seeing is out of town this week so I'm here all alone. A whole child-free week wasted! I have to work the day after Thanksgiving so it's not worth driving 4 hours to my dad's or 3 hours to my mom's.

ShellofmyFormerSelf I'm not alone for Christmas this year but dd just left for two weeks. This will be my first Thanksgiving without her! Last year was my first Christmas without her and I painted every room in my house, including both bathrooms. This week I'm repainting my bedroom and bathroom.

Who else will have to share the kids at Christmas?

This will be the first Christmas my kids have ever been away. They usually only visit him in the summer, but he was in Korea the past year and he did not get them. Who else will be alone for the holidays. I think I am going to repaint my living room while they are gone and feel sorry for myself.
