I am sorry, I just wanted to offer some sympathy. Simon weaned about two weeks before Charlie was born and there were times when he was nursing that I was screeeaaaming on the inside just ready to be done! Anyway, I know how you feel.

We've now reached the switchover to colustrum...which is pissing him off. He's smacking me, saying "All gone! No!" and insisting on switching back and forth fifty times, to see if either breast is going to give him what he wants. Plus he seems to think the breasts he finds by lifting my shirt are the problem...while the good breasts, with the good milk in them, are to be found by reaching through my collar.   A couple of times I have just taken my shirt off altogether, to prove to him that it's still just the two, Buddy. Which just pisses him off more.  Oh! And someone pointed out to me that colustrum is the reason behind the nasty disgusting diapers. Apparently it's a laxative.

If I were in your shoes I'd go have a horomonal meltdown on dh an extract a promise from him that he would start nursing the baby to sleep.

It is tough. I nursed through my second pregnancy and that was enough. Look on the plus side. You'll have no real problems with engorgement when your milk comes back in.

NURSING WHILE PREGNANT SUCKS ASS  I've crashed right into the emotional/hormonal mess stage of the third trimester sometime in the last week or so, and suddenly I am fucking hating nursing and wish I knew how to wean Linus. But I'm feeling horrible and guilty that I didn't do it already, because now I think it's too close to the baby being born, and will cause him untold kinks in his little psyche. He fell asleep nursing tonight, and when I went to put him down in his bed, he woke up and started shrieking to nurse more. And the leaning over the crib to tuck him in and try to convince him to go back to sleep was hurting my stupid giant belly, and my breasts were shrieking just as loud (no!no! no more! hide us! they shrieked) and I patted him and he settled down just until I got outside his bedroom door and started downstairs...when I got winded and dizzy halfway down the steps, and I had a cramp or a contraction or some such bullshit and had to sit on the steps so I didn't fall over...then he started screaming again. And I burst into tears because I literally feel like my body is going to just implode and fall apart. I can't eat much before I start feeling sick, or stuffed after just a few bites; I can't drink much for the same reason; I can't sleep more than 4 hours at a time before my bladder or my back wake me up...heartburn is complicating all of three, eating, drinking, and sleeping..I am not capable of getting enough food or liquids or rest to keep myself feeling less like shit, let alone keep up with his nursing demands. And still with the teeth in his latch. No more actual biting, but there are teeth involved in his latch more than half the time. Please someone kill me. |
