MHM I had a 4.0 (still do ) all through my academic career and was only offered one scholarship once, the last year I was there. Scholarships are not as common as they used to be. (Or are divided up more than they used to be!)

The library book thing sucks though!

funkytown Well, maybe there is hope. I just don't expect much at this point, though, so instead, I will imagine ways I can stick it to the university later. Maybe, I'll get invited to speak at commencement .

I just got a letter from the librarian and the problem is fixed. At least, I can get a damn book.

todolist I've been awarded them for merit, and age, and proximity to school.

If they come from the school they come from filling out the FAFSA. Just like loans. You can get private loans, but you can get them from the govt, and the way you do that is by filling out the FAFSA.

At least that is my experience. I've never been awarded a scholarship that I've applied for personally.

funkytown If it comes after the FAFSA, it's probably need-based and I won't qualify. If I get a scholarship, it will be solely merit-based.

todolist I've only ever been offered any scholarships once I have my FAFSA filled out. they always come with the award letter for my pell grant and the loan information.

mommasharty that sucks

I have a 3.98 GPA and have never been offered a real scholarship from my school. It's a huge school thought (20k plus students), and women in the English department are a dime a dozen

MelodyMaker That really sucks. Hopefully it is just a paperwork snafu and they will have it all fixed by the time you get there.

I am so fed up with my school...

...they have yet to offer me any scholarship money, which alone is a huge blow, considering my GPA and the amount of money I've given them.

Then, today, they tell me I can't check out a library book. My bills are paid. There is no reason for this. Still, account blocked. I put the book on hold and spoke to a very nice girl at the help desk who could not help. I was very nice and told her that I'm going to get the book tomorrow and if she would just be so kind to do what she can to make sure I can get it when I show up in the afternoon, I would appreciate that. She seemed very happy that I was so nice about it that I think she might actually work on it.

If I can't get this book tomorrow, I am going to give someone an earfull. Probably the director of the department because he will be closest. Maybe, my advisor. My the dean's secretary.

That said, I really don't want to cry and throw a tantrum at school tomorrow, so hopefully, the glitch will be worked out before I walk in the door.

Seriously, 3.9 GPA and I can't so much as get a fucking LIBRARY BOOK.
