Noodle Just seeing this but so glad it was negative and she has a plan to monitor it.

Consueluh I'm glad to see a good update.

mindycat72 Yes. There were no abnormal cells in the tissue, so she is in the clear, EXCEPT that there is a family history. SO she went in for her follow up, and they offered ther three options; double mastectomy, tamoxifen(sp?), and referring over the the cancer clinic with yearly mammos, and yearly MRI's on the 6 month marks. She chose the last option. So, she will be going in every six months for screening.

Thank you every one for all your thoughts and prayers. Thank God for that cyst, AND the fact that they scanned both breasts, or that could have gone unchecked for at least another year.

Squeeze yer boobies everyone. I'm a believer now.

My mom went in

Spetunia You've got it.

mindycat72 She had the surgery today to remove the surrounding tissue, and we will know in 3-5 days what the results are, and if she needs further treatment. Please pray that this is over and done.

Primetime I wish your mom the very best - what a scary thing to go through.

TangoMom good news, and hoping for the best outcome.

Grouchy glad to hear good news.

mindycat72 Okay, so apparently, one one of the ducts in her breast, she had an overgrowth of abnormal cells. Which means pre-cancer, not cancer, yet. She goes in next Thursday to have tissue from the surrounding area removed and tested. If everything is normal, then we are done. If not, then I don't know, and my mom did not ask.

Thank God for that cyst, which had nothing to do with anything, and was even on the other side, but is how this all got discovered at all. It would have been another year until her routine mammo.

mindycat72 She has a consult with a surgeon tomorrow, so I am just on pins and needles until then.

TangoMom what grouchy says
03-04-2011 05:14 PM
Grouchy see what they say about size and results of the biopsy - if it's still early and small and hasn't metastasizied, there is a good prognosis. Hang in there!
03-04-2011 05:11 PM
mindycat72 It's cancer.
03-01-2011 08:27 PM
mindycat72 Did I mention my grandmother's cancer? I swear to God I am losing my mind.
03-01-2011 08:22 PM
mindycat72 Her needle biopsy is tomorrow. They said with the amount there is, they may get it all with the needle.

Her mother had breast cancer, but because she had cystic breasts anyway, she let it go until there were actually tumors that had eaten through to the outside of the skin.

Patsit I don't have any answers for you but I hope you get some answers quickly.

My mom went in

to have a lump under her breast checked out. After numerous mammograms, it turns the lump is just a harmless cyst. BUT, they found "something" in the other breast, and now she has to go in for a biopsy. Her mother had beast cancer, and let it go until she had tumors that had eaten through the skin. And needle biopsies scare the shit out of me, because if they are sticking that needle into a cancerous tissue, doesn't that just drag it back out, exposing all the tissue in between to it?

Mind you, I know nothing of how these things work, I just want my mom to be okay.
