AMG OMG, I would be all too!

I hope Awesome Company comes through for you!

DaWezl I got an offer from the summer program today. They asked me to please accept by Friday, although they mentioned that they would grant limited extensions to that deadline, so I may be able to eke out having to give a final response until the following week.

So now I have to figure out how to try and navigate between this and my dealings with Awesome Company, without pissing off either of them.

DaWezl I met with Awesome Company today. Wow, it is a rigorous process there. I met with 5 different people for 3 hours straight--no breaks for me! And the questions weren't softball ones like "Tell me what your weakness is". They had a lot of tough ones like "Critique our current operations" (woo, you could get in a LOT of trouble with that one!) and a lot of self-awareness ones like "How would you deal with a contributor who is not producing that you don't directly manage?"

After this, they do ANOTHER round of interviews, this time with higher ups and the hiring manager. And apparently if I make it through to that round, I will have to do a presentation and personality testing as well!!! Eeeek!!! But the upshot is that everyone I spoke with is very happy and the descriptions they gave of their working process is exactly what I'd like to be doing. They said they want to finish hiring this position within the next three weeks! It's going to be hard to get anythiing done with all these fingers and toes crossed!

AMG I hope you hear something soon!

DaWezl I've been going back and forth today with the recruiter on the #3 job. They sent a job description for a senior level position, but then said the temp didn't need to be at that level. So I had to figure out what I feel comfortable bidding on it, since I'd also be setting my potential salary range as a FTer. I ended up going for a fairly high bid. We'll have to see if they go for it.

The school program is from mid-May through the first week of August. They do offer it at other times of the year, but one aspect of it is that because you handle proprietary information, you are not allowed to be employed anywhere else while you are in the program. I wouldn't risk asking Awesome Company to wait for it though. The program is cool, but not as cool as working in pretty much the exact type of role I've wanted to be in.

I am trying so hard not to get my hopes up for Awesome Company, bc I've known so many people who've gotten turned down after the whole inperson interview process there. I've been trying not to even mention it to my IRL friends, bc I feel like I will jinx myself. But the chickens in my neighborhood are running scared from me!

AMG Oh, man - that's going to be tricky to negotiate! I hope AWESOME COMPANY moves fast for you!

Yup, it's pouring now

Oy vey. So I go for weeks at a time with nothing going on in my job search. Check out the boards, make applications, and then? Radio silence. Just when I feel like I should just give up, I'll get a call from one of my "better than nothing" jobs for an interview. Something I'm not wild about, but hey, it's a paycheck. And every single time that happens, before I even meet with them, something better appears on the horizon. Naturally, it's hard to muster up enthusiasm for the "meh" job when I'm thinking about the better one. And then the way the universe has been treating me, I end up with neither job, and the cycle resumes.

Well, a little over a week ago, I applied for a really cool paid summer program at my school. Something I am totally excited about. I ended up getting called in for an interview on this past Wednesday which went well. Snoopy dance! But, before I could focus on that, I get a phone interview with the awesome company that I've been trying to get into since I moved back here. and ended up a second interview with them next Wednesday.

So the dates work as follows. School Program sends out offers next week, and students have until 4/24 to accept. There are no extensions to that date--you have to say yes or no and that's what they go with. I meet again with Awesome Inc on 4/11. By all accounts, there's usually a THIRD round of interviews with them, that tend to be scheduled sometime the week following. If my interview(s) go well, I have to expect that the earliest I'd know would be around 4/20. I would probably let them know about the School Program if I had an offer in hand from that to see if I can hear back from them sooner, although I have to be careful how I play that, bc they think of my ex-employer culture as being "pushy".

Now, if that doesn't make your head spin, as I was driving to school last night, I get a call from a recruiter I've been speaking to. She has a temporary position open that could lead to a FT job. I am not familiar with this company yet, but initial impressions are that I'd rank it slightly above School, and well below Awesome. She wants me to call her back today to discuss applying for it. I feel stupid complaining because all of this is better than nothing, but that's THREE jobs, each of which is interesting on it's own merits. And yet, if I'm stupid, I could end up missing out on all three, just because the one I really want is probably going to be the last one to be ready to make an offer.

Anybody have an umbrella I can borrow?
